Christian ethicists slam company in which churches have largest shareholding
As Shell faces a lawsuit in the Netherlands over alleged oil pollution in Nigeria, and a fresh challenge over plans to drill for billions of barrels of oil in the Arctic's environmentally sensitive frozen waters, a new report published today (16 February) argues that the oil giant can and should take both prompt and longer-term action to reduce the negative social and environmental impacts of its operations in the Niger Delta.

Holy Nativity Award for leader of South Africa homeless movement
Cape Town (ENI). The Anglican Church in South Africa's KwaZulu-Natal province has awarded its Order of the Holy Nativity to the head of a shack-dwellers' movement for being a "beacon of dignity and hope".

Poole's KUBE Gallery to close in January!
The KUBE Gallery at North Road on the campus of the college is to close at the end of January 2010. The gallery, built to house the college's extensive art collection has operated since the year 2000 and offers opportunities for local, national and international artists, students, families and children with exhibitions, music, art fares, workshops and talks. Despite 2009 being its busiest ever year the college has decided to withdraw its funding with the dedicated staff set to lose their jobs and the local area to lose the only purpose built art gallery in Dorset. The college wants to turn the gallery into offices.
