Following on from his speech about the DESERTEC concept in the House of Commons (http://www.trec-uk.org.uk/links/speeches/adjournment_debate_2008-02-28.html), Dr Howard Stoate MP has kindly set up an Early Day Motion (EDM) calling on the Government to endorse and promote the concept. The EDM (1871 07-08) can be seen here: http://edmi.parliament.uk/EDMi/EDMDetails.aspx?EDMID=36189&SESSION=891 .
Although it was only set up on the 24th of June, the EDM has already been signed by 24 MPs and the number seems to be growing fast.
Please will you write to your MP, asking them to sign EDM 1871 07-08.
This can be done quickly and easily using the free WriteToThem service. Details of what to do, with a link to the WriteToThem website and a sample letter, can be found on http://www.trec-uk.org.uk/lobby.html#EDM1871 .
Since the EDM lapses at the end of this parliamentary session on the 22nd of July, it would be good if you could write your letter soon. It is likely that a new EDM will be set up for the next parliamentary session but it would be useful if we can demonstrate good support for this EDM now.
Many thanks to Howard Stoate for his help and support in promoting the DESERTEC concept.
And, in anticipation, many thanks to everyone for writing to MPs.
Regards,
Gerry
