Event Description:
Working with Young People. (Identifying risk and ways of engagement)

20th October 2008
Committee Suite, Civic Centre

Constant media barrage allows us to believe that drug and alcohol use with young people is a major contributor to relationship, social and educational breakdown in Britain today.

This workshop will bring forth up to date data about the number of young people recorded as using drugs and alcohol in the UK today and give an overview of the local picture in Bournemouth & Poole. It will also enable learners to understand evidence from best practice reviews as to how to engage with young people in relation to their substance misuse issues and sustain the relationship to develop a positive outcome. The identification of risk will also be discussed and how to conduct a risk assessment and create a risk management plan for the young person.

The YADAS (Young Adults Drug & Alcohol Service) will be in attendance to offer case scenarios of clients they have worked with over the years from tiers 1 to 4.
